The Bones

October 24th, 2008

 What do I want?

Class started with the question to each person:  What do I want in coming to this class?  Some responses were:  Fun, Exploration, Revelation, To become free and uninhibited in moving around others, Transformation, Creativity, Play, More movement in my life, to get un-stuck.

The Bones

In partnership, with no intent other than to feel and trace the hardness of the bones, we took about 10 minutes for each person and simply explored the bones.

The healing and transformational significance of this exercise has a few layers.  First, there is intelligence in the bones, very ancient intelligence.  The intelligence of forward motion, strength, integrity, and determination is in the bones.  Secondly, this intelligence can be accessed.  There is revelation and guidance in the bones.  Another aspect of the bones is the instant integrity and wholeness that is available to us.  When spaced out, confused, pulled apart, or mentally and emotionally fatigued, go to your bones.  It is a puzzle of parts that remains in tact.  Focus your attention and receive the simple connectedness of your bones.

Transformational Motion

Someone brought up the motion of the worm, wiggling, and that he was drawn to this motion.  I mentioned that the motion of the worm is a motion from left to right, like a sail boat tacking across the water.  The motion left to right, left to right is how forward motion happens.  For the human being it is the same both internally and externally.  Outwardly this is obvious, left foot, right foot, walking, running, pedaling, etc.  Inwardly we move from left to right as well.  The inward motion is the motion that all human behavior is based upon.  Our learning, our transformation, healing, creativity, and productivity is founded upon this simple motion from one side to the other.  In the brain we refer to left and right side activity.  Left side being the more logical and linear, the right side being the dreamy, visionary, and intuitive side.  The two must work together.

Pain and Discomfort

We talked about pain, and not being suckered into the “location” of pain.  There is a reason for the pain or discomfort.  Focusing intently upon the site will not bring resolution.  We have to “feel” what is happening to our inner life.  What emotions, what feelings, what discouragement to forward motion is occurring?
This is one reason to use the exercises of bones and joints.  Instead of focusing on the site of discomort – go to wholeness.  Go to your body, the whole thing.  Don’t get stuck in one part.  And allow yourself to honestly express what is going on.  Talk aloud, talk to the open air, talk to someone else, write, find expression

Thank You

Thanks for coming.  I really enjoyed the class, and I appreciate your patience.  Next week will be our last Wednesday class.  I will be focusing on the entire sequence of transformation:  Bones, Joints, Direction, Balance, Space, and Adornment.
