Reading the Body

Everyone has the ability to heal.  Reading the Body provides an understanding of how you can tap  into your inner resources and fully participate in your healing process, whether it is as simple as a stiff neck, or a more serious condition.  Your participation will make all the difference.  A Reading can be done for both minor and major health issues.  There are four parts to a reading.

1. The Interview

You know more than you might realize. As you tell your story, describe your symptoms and recount your history, you will lay out the scattered pieces of the puzzle you wish to solve. What you already know about your condition provides the foundation for the reading.  The interview takes place either in my office in Scarborough, Maine, or by telephone if your reading is being done by proxy (see below).

 2. The Kinesthetic Reading

A reading is a series of questions directed to your body. Your body is able to answer each question by contracting or relaxing the muscles of your legs, arms, or hands. When I am reading I observe or read the muscle responses of the legs. Each response indicates either a "yes" or a "no" to the question.

If the answer to the question is “yes” the muscles contract and draw up the left leg from one-eighth inch to an inch and one-half, as the picture indicates.  This kinesthetic muscle response happens without your thinking about the question.  The question is answered directly by the body’s healing intelligence.

If the answer is “no”, the muscles of the legs are relaxed and the legs remain the same length.  Using this method of question and answer, your body guides the reader to an in-depth understanding of the condition and how it can be corrected.

What to Expect in Your First Reading

First the interview.  Bring a tape recorder if you like.  Pen and a notebook are encouraged.  Then you will lie on the massage table, fully clothed, shoes on, and simply relax.  There is no hands on healing such as massage, polarity, or healing touch.  I will lightly lift and put pressure on the soles of your feet when observing the kinesthetic responses in your legs.  The actual reading can take up to an hour the first time.

A first reading, with interview and summary, can last from one hour up to two and one-half hours.  Subsequent readings are an hour or less.  Cost is by the hour, which is currently $80.

3. A Full Summary

After the reading we will discuss all the information gathered in detail so that you have a full understanding of how your condition came about, and how you can use your inner resources for restoring health.   A full written summary of the reading is provided as well.

4. Your Healing Exercises

In the reading your body will suggest a series of healing exercises. Each exercise will be explained in detail and included in your written summary. The Healing Exercises are quite simple and easy to follow.  The real challenge is making time and being deliberate, which makes all the difference in how your healing progresses.  Please refer to the Healing Exercises Page.

The Healing Process

It is important to know what to expect in the way of time and energy before you start the healing process.  Sometimes the process is short and sweet.  Some conditions take time and considerable personal involvement.  A reading will often bring you face to face with those challenges that keep you going in circles, and require that extra bit of effort.   Whether you are looking for understanding on major or minor issues, the process is the same.  You will be tapping into your own inner resources to get the job done.

Reading by Proxy:  A reading can be accomplished in two ways – in person or by proxy. A proxy reading is done through another person, and is fully explained in the blog, Reading by Proxy.  Proxy readings are practical for those living at a distance, for small children, and those who cannot tolerate lying or sitting for an extended period.
